Vilifying you: Gets the job done everytime

I want you to do something, Google the word 'bhakt'. Now start looking at the images:

Expectation:

Reality:

Now let's go to the dictionary meaning from Merriam Webster: A religious devotee.

Before we get to the details of what's going on around us, let's first take an example of a rape victim. Have you ever felt that gross anger, the seething out pour of hate when you see victim vilification? When the victim is asked to explain why she went out all alone at night without any male guardian? When a victim is asked why was she eating chowmein with a stranger (who was maybe a friend from college/work)?

There's a pattern here, choices and freedom of a person, which has been 'guaranteed' by our constitution is turned around to first defame, then criminalize the very victim who was not just wronged, but scarred for life. Similarly, the pseudo-secular, so called left wing, culturally and intellectually rich elites of the world around us employ a similar technique to paint people of Hindu culture and faith in a specific manner.

Why being bhakt is wrong? What does bhakt mean? It simply means that you are religious, but the venomous media has created an environment, an atmosphere, where a seemingly harmless, or even a matter of pride till not too long ago, has been transformed into an insult. Even worse than that is the educated public at large has fallen into this trap. How many times have you seen Hindus on Twitter, Facebook, insulting each other with the word 'Bhakt'? Why so? Why suddenly they have forgotten what it means? Why have they fallen for a cheap but highly effective technique of some of the most corrupt and morally bankrupt politics?

Can I use the same word in English as an insult? 'Hey you religious', would that be an insult?.

It's high time that we people of India, not just Hindus, please wake up to this reality. Our cultural and religious symbols, colors, words are being painted as derogatory insults. There will be a time in near future where a generation will rise which will HATE to have anything to do with our own history, our own culture, our own lifestyle. A generation which will be too self absorbent, too timid, too self righteous and yet too weak to hold their heads high with pride.

We are a country of 1 billion people, a 5000 year old culture of peace and prosperity, we are a nation which fought 2 world wars, sacrificed our braves because Western countries, high on their brand of religion, and interpretation of their own religious text was wiping one whole community from the face of this globe. We Ram bhakts, Krishna bhakts, Surya bhakts, Shiv bhakts, Vishnu bhakts, gathered ourselves to fight off the tyranny and villany. We sacrificed our blood, our sweat, our food, our future, to ensure that we are able to live in a world where our Swastik is not a symbol of genocide. And today, the very same color that is supposed to be one of the colors of our flag, is used as a derogatory symbol? 'Bhagva Brigade' seriously?

Please for god's sake, wake up and understand how our culture is being (mis)represented by people who hold their self interest & by corollary, those of their overlords in the center, and the interest of their fellow countrymen in the not even in periphery. For them this country, it's people, it's history and it's future are not important, because they think that their future has got nothing do with it. And very honestly, they are right as well, because they are in a class where they won't be affected by our struggles of identity, our efforts of getting things done, creating a mark, achieving success and respect, they aren't bothered about our need of self esteem.

Why is it a problem being a bhakt? I am a bhakt, maybe, so are you, if not you, maybe your parents, your grandparents, ask them someday, and they will proudly say that they are Ram Bhakt, or Krishna Bhakt, or something like that. Today by using the bhakt as a cuss word, you are not just insulting your own culture, but you are insulting the faith, emotions and life of your family and friends. All this is happening because some people are on a crusade to tarnish the very image that was being worshiped not too long ago.

Recognize their ulterior motives, and your heritage, no matter your religion, but your identity, your roots, your culture is Indian.
